O ‘Bola Amarela’ foi um dos únicos dois órgãos de comunicação social presentes no Mutua Madrid Open – juntamente com o ‘Record’ – mas houve mais portugueses presentes na final da prova.
Luís Figo, antigo futebolista e capitão da seleção nacional, e a sua mulher, a antiga modelo Helen Svedin estiveram na fila da frente do Estádio Manolo Santana. Ricardinho, que joga atualmente para o Inter Movistar, clube de futsal nos arredores de Madrid, também não quis faltar.
